Officers from the Nassau County Police Department responded to a reported domestic disturbance on Jacob Street in Elmont at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, April 2.
Upon arrival, police said that officers were informed that Hempstead resident Chad Williams, age 33, was involved in a dispute with a 22-year-old woman, displaying a handgun during the incident, which prompted her to attempt to call the police.
It is alleged that Williams grabbed the victims’ phone to prevent her from making the call, but the victim was able to obtain a different phone and then dialed 911.
When police arrived, Williams refused to come out of the Jacob Street home, prompting officers to create a perimeter around the house while the Nassau County Emergency Service Unit, Bureau of Special Operations, and Hostage Negation team was dispatched.
According to police “as a result of continued communication between the defendant and police, Williams eventually complied with officers who were then able to place him into custody without further incident.”
Williams was taken into custody without further incident and charged with menacing, criminal mischief, and criminal impersonation, the latter of which was for an unrelated open warrant for his arrest. No return court date has been announced.
